Belgian country code domain introduced in the late 1980s. Registrations at the second level must be ordered via a registered agent. Proliferation of .be spam domain names during 2006 due to winter 2005 offer of initial year's free registration. Most of these have now expired. No registration restrictions also allows use of the .be by individuals, companies and groups from outside the country.
